    Lingmell is such a good viewpoint and a lot quieter than Scafell Pike ! A good refuge from the crowds the same way Catstycam is from Helvellyn !

  • @jeffnewton4103
    @jeffnewton4103 3 дня назад

    I did that climb 30 years ago. I take your point about crowds. My first mountain was Snowdon in 1972. I wouldn't go back there now. You have to queue up to get on the summit ! Destroys the whole point of being there in the first place !! Hope you did go back to Lingmell. There's a superb view of Great Gable.

    Great scrambling! I, along with 7 others, did the same route as you in May 2011. It came up in our FB memories. It's humbling the bond made with those other 7 which is still vibrant to this day. We actually threaded the Needle the other way round. In retrospect, much the easier way to do it. Then our route found us climbing past the the Sphinx... and along side but not on , Little Hell gate. Making the top near Westmoreland cairn via the Arrowhead ridge. All in all, a fantastic walk. I am now 74. So I feel your pain! Well done guys, I expect the memories of that day are just as fresh to you as mine are to me .

    Hello Graham - another great video, thanks. I have been looking at this walk as I want to visit Swindale Beck and see it now it has been re-naturalised to it's former course (as it was 200 years ago!). Was the farmer friendly? Did you just turn up and ask or did you give them a call beforehand? No worries if you can't remember, I'll just park before the cattle grid near the pump house :-)

    • @FatBoysonTourHikingVideos
      @FatBoysonTourHikingVideos 7 месяцев назад

      Hi, It was a long time ago and sadly I am not 100% sure. It says we had permission, so If I was true to my usual form, I just drove down there, looked for the farmer and being a firm believer of 'If you don't ask, you don't get' would have asked then if it was ok to park there. I certainly did not phone before hand. Sorry I can't be more help. Enjoy the walk

Still not done any of these but will be doing them this year and looking forward to them all excerpt 'Bessyboot and Glaramara', which to be honest, I have been putting off for years due to the awful descent down. I think (on a dry day) I will go up the steep stone steps from the camping site at Stonethwaite to Bessyboot, over to Glaramara and then on the Allen Crags and down via the tarns, may well be a heck of a lot longer but is sure looks a lot safer! Brill, I think Mary you need to to sort Graham on the Cumberland dialect, especially Souther Fell ha, loved the Sharp Edge video, nice to see Dave's face popping up, used to love watching Dave, an inspiration to us all. I started doing Wainwrights when I turned 64. Have done 203 Wainwrights, then Covid came, stopped us in our tracks. Have done quite a few 2 or 3 times, around 350 in total. As Mary knows, living in Carlisle is ideal. Started on Catbells, remember saying " I will never get up there", have been up 11 times . Am 78 now. Great video.
